First decay scheme of 113Tc and identification of 113Ru m

Very neutron–rich fission products of the mass chain A=113 obtained from the IGISOL on–line mass separator have been investigated by γγ coincidence techniques and γ-spectra multiscaling. Gamma–rays following β–decay of 113Tc have been observed for the first time and a new 0.5 s isomeric state has been found in 113Ru.

A system for rapid radiochemical separations from aqueous solutions

Abstract For the study of short-lived fission products, an automatic system has been developed that allows to irradiate aqueous solutions sealed in polystyrene capsules, to separate chemically the radioactive products formed, and to start counting, all within a few seconds. Irradiations are performed in a pneumatic tube system installed in a horizontal beam hole of a reactor. The capsule is projected into a separation apparatus where it breaks by impact. Its content is then sucked through a thin reactive layer that takes up the desired product. New accurate measurements of neutron emission probabilities for relevant fission products

We have performed new accurate measurements of the beta-delayed neutron emission probability for ten isotopes of the elements Y, Sb, Te and I. These are fission products that either have a significant contribution to the fraction of delayed neutrons in reactors or are relatively close to the path of the astrophysical r process. The measurements were performed with isotopically pure radioactive beams using a constant and high efficiency neutron counter and a low noise beta detector. Preliminary results are presented for six of the isotopes and compared with previous measurements and theoretical calculations. peerReviewed

Characterization of a Be(p,xn) Neutron Source for Fission Yields Measurements

We report on measurements performed at The Svedberg Laboratory (TSL) to characterize a proton-neutron converter for independent fission yield studies at the IGISOL-JYFLTRAP facility (Jyv\"askyl\"a, Finland). A 30 MeV proton beam impinged on a 5 mm water-cooled Beryllium target. Two independent experimental techniques have been used to measure the neutron spectrum: a Time of Flight (TOF) system used to estimate the high-energy contribution, and a Bonner Sphere Spectrometer able to provide precise results from thermal energies up to 20 MeV. Relevance of β-delayed neutron data for reactor, nuclear physics and astrophysics applications

Initially, yields (or abundances) and branching ratios of β-delayed neutrons (βdn) from fission products (Pn-values) have had their main importance in nuclear reactor control. At that time, the six-group mathematical approximation of the time-dependence of βdn-data in terms of the so-called "Keepin groups" was generally accepted. Implementation of an aerodynamic lens for TRIGA-SPEC

Abstract We report on the optimization of the gas-jet system employed to couple the TRIGA-SPEC experiment to the research reactor TRIGA Mainz. CdI2 aerosol particles suspended in N2 as carrier gas are used for an effective transport of fission products from neutron induced 235 U fission from the target chamber to a surface ion source. Operating conditions of the gas-jet were modified to enable the implementation of an aerodynamic lens, fitting into the limited space available in front of the ion source. Transport of recoil atoms in a stream of liquid-air-cooled pure helium

Abstract Pure commercial helium cooled down to the temperature of liquid air (80 K) has been used for rapid transportation of recoil atoms over distances as long as 10 m. Transport efficiencies of several tens of per cent have been obtained for recoil atoms resulting from alpha decay or from decay by fission. The angle of divergence of the beam of recoil atoms at the exit of the transport capillary is measured to be (11±2)° for particles of mass number A = 211. Experimental results are discussed in terms of thermal diffusion. The elimination of carrier vapors will probably simplify the use of the helium-jet technique in on-line mass separators.

Contribution of recently measured nuclear data to reactor antineutrino energy spectra predictions

This paper attempts to summarize the actual problematic of reactor antineutrino energy spectra in the frame of fundamental and applied neutrino physics. Nuclear physics is an important ingredient of reactor antineutrino experiments. These experiments are motivated by neutrino oscillations, i.e. the measure of the θ 13 mixing angle. In 2011, after a new computation of the reactor antineutrino energy spectra, based on the conversion of integral data of the beta spectra from 235 U, and 239;241 Pu, a deficit of reactor antineutrinos measured by short baseline experiments was pointed out. Intruder states in even-even neutron-rich Pd isotopes

The decays of 112Rh g and 112Rh m obtained as on-line mass separated fission products have been investigated by standard β and γ spectroscopic techniques and γ-γ angular correlations. Low-lying 0+ and 2+ states are identified in the daughter nucleus 112Pd. Systematics suggests the existence of an intruder band which is the lowest in 110Pd, i.e. two neutrons before the midshell.
